After an accident

After a crash or a work injury: the steps, in order

An injury is stressful, and the paperwork can feel like a second job. Here is the order we suggest: emergency care first if you need it, then a visit with us when you are ready. You decide what happens at every step.

What to do, step by step

  1. 01

    Emergency care first

If you were in a crash, are badly hurt or have any sign listed at the end of this page, call 911 or go to an emergency room. Chiropractic care can wait.

  2. 02

    Tell your insurer or employer

Report the crash or injury to your auto insurer or your employer. They may have deadlines of their own, so ask them. We cannot report for you.

  3. 03

    Book a first visit

Call or send a message when you are ready. We ask for your name, how to reach you and claim details if you have them, and nothing about your injuries.

  4. 04

    Exam, options, records

Your doctor examines how you move and explains the options, the risks and the cost. We keep clear notes and send records only with your written permission.

How bills are handled

Who pays for what

It depends on your claim. We explain each case before you book.

  • Auto policy

In Michigan, the medical coverage on your auto policy may pay for care after a crash. What it pays depends on your policy and your claim, so ask your insurer first.

    How fees work
  • Work injury

A workers' compensation claim has its own rules about who may treat you and who pays. Ask your employer or the claim's adjuster before you book.

    How fees work
  • Your health plan or you

If a claim does not cover a visit, your health plan may, or you can pay yourself. Self-pay comes with a written estimate first.

Ready when you are

Send a message and the front desk will call you to find a time. No health details are needed in the message.

  • A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
