Questions before your first visit

Plain answers. If yours is not here, call the front desk.

What happens at the first visit?

Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. You talk with your doctor about what happened and what you want from care, have an exam, hear what was found and what the options are, and decide what happens next. Treatment starts that day only if you agree.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care has risks as well as benefits. Soreness or stiffness after a visit is common and usually passes in a day or two. Rare serious events have been reported, including stroke after a neck adjustment. Your doctor asks about your history, explains the risks of each option and may advise a physician first. You can decline any part of care. Call 911 or go to an emergency room for a sudden severe headache or neck pain, new weakness or numbness, chest pain, or new bladder or bowel trouble.

Will it hurt?

Some people feel sore after a visit, a little like after exercise. Tell your doctor what you feel at any point. Your doctor can change what is done or stop.

How many visits will I need?

Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and reviews it as you go. We do not promise a number of visits or a result, and you can change the plan or stop.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill some health plans for chiropractic visits, and what a plan pays differs from plan to plan. After a crash or a work injury, an auto policy or a workers' compensation claim may apply instead. Our front desk checks your coverage before your first visit. How fees work explains each case.

What if I do not use insurance?

If you pay yourself, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. We give you a written estimate before your first visit, and your doctor tells you the fee for each part of a visit before it happens.

Do I need x-rays?

Only when they are medically necessary. If your doctor thinks you need imaging, the doctor explains why, what it would show and what it costs before anything is done.

Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?

Tell us when you book. Your doctor decides whether chiropractic care fits, may ask you to check with your obstetric provider or your child's pediatrician first, and explains the options. We make no claims about conditions in pregnancy or childhood, and a parent or guardian must be present for a child.

What if I have seen another provider?

Tell us, and bring any records or imaging you have. With your written permission we can ask for others. Your doctor can work alongside your physician, and refers you when something is outside chiropractic.

What is the cancellation policy?

Call as early as you can if you need to change a visit. Ask the front desk for the practice's cancellation policy in writing before you book.

Still have a question?

Call the front desk or send a message. We will answer before you book anything.
